The story of the Outdoorchef brand began in 1992 with a cooking accident during a birthday party. Mike Lingwood, the founder, wanted to prepare grilled delicacies for guests, but was faced with flames, smoke and burnt food. This event inspired him to design a system to prevent grease fires.
Lingwood began experimenting with a washing machine drum, cutting off the conical center to use it as a funnel. This led to the creation of the Outdoorchef funnel system, which ensures even heat distribution and prevents grease flare-ups.
Easy and tasty grilling
In 1996, the first gas kettle grills, the Classic Kettle 480 and 570, were launched, revolutionizing the concept of grilling. In 1999, the Outdoorchef company was founded in Switzerland and began production.
Outdoorchef continued to innovate, introducing the first gas kettle grill with a double burner in 2004 and the pizza and bread stone in 2005. In 2009, the brand was acquired by the Diethelm Keller Brands Group (DKB).
Today, Outdoorchef is known for its minimalist design, advanced technology and focus on sustainability. Their Gourmet Burner technology allows for precise temperature control, making low-temperature cooking, low & slow cooking and high-temperature cooking for crispy pizzas possible.
